Choosing the Best Industrial Air Coolers for Your Workplace

Warehouses, factories, workshops and other similar workspaces can get very hot and uncomfortable during the summer season.

Industrial air coolers provide a solution, cooling the air and building occupants and improving ventilation and air quality.

Keeping workers cool at work is not only good for their comfort but can also improve their health and productivity.

Here are some examples of worksite cooling systems.

Evaporative systems

Evaporative coolers are best used in low-humidity areas as they use water to cool the air. The effect of evaporative coolers is a bit like the coolness you feel on your skin after emerging from a swimming pool.

Evaporative systems use a pump to push air across water and a fan to distribute the cooled air. At the same time, warm indoor air is expelled outside. They can be used to cool whole areas or for spot-cooling.

It’s important to note that these types of coolers require regular maintenance, including draining and cleaning to remove sediment build-up.

Fan systems

Fans circulate air within a space, helping to keep people cooler. There are a number of types available:

  • Misting fans – these fans spray a fine mist of water over a zone. The area doesn’t become wet as the mist is rapidly evaporated. Misting fans can be used both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ceiling fans – ceiling fans circulate air to create a breeze. Using a ceiling fan also allows you to run your air conditioner at a higher temperature, which can save money on power bills.
  • Mobile mancoolers – these are industrial barrel-style fans that not only cool the air but provide ventilation and extracting, in turn improving air quality.

Portable air conditioners

If your workspace doesn’t have air conditioning installed, portable systems can be used instead. A benefit of portable systems is they can be moved around to different areas or transferred to other workshops or spaces as needed.

Portable air conditioners can be used to cool areas within a building or for spot cooling.

Choosing the right system

It’s important to choose the right sort of systems to suit your particular workshop or warehouse.

Factors to consider include the region, climate, the size of the space and the number of building occupants.
